We’ve all seen it.

The perfect outfit on the wrong person.  We quietly think to ourselves, “that would look great… on someone else.”  Problem is, if no one says anything, we will continue to wear the wrong thing for our body type.  We’re here to put an end to this silent suffering.

Here are some basic tips on how to select the appropriate handbag according to your body type:

Balance

As a rule, tall ladies need larger handbags; small ladies need smaller handbags.

Here are some examples of ladies who get it right.

Handle Length

Ladies with larger hips (pear shape) will want a handbag with a shorter handle.  That way, the bag rests on her waist drawing the eyes upwards, not adding more bulk to the hip area.

Ladies with larger mid-sections (apple shape) will look better with a longer handled handbag.  This may include crossbody or messenger type handbags.

Longer shoulder straps allow the handbag to rest below the waist, drawing eyes down and not adding bulk to the mid-section.

Function

Women who work in a formal business setting may want to opt for a more structured handbag, whereas women who are want a more casual look are better suited to a hobo or less structured style.
